The final of the Greenwood Cup was held at Albert Park on Sunday, 7th July, where Partick secured a clinical victory against Glasgow opponents GHK Strathclyde. Both teams had battled hard to get to the final which was played in great spirit.
In a solid first innings Partick overcame a nervy start to post a commanding total of 127 for 7 from their 20 overs. Five of the Partick batsmen achieved double figure scores with Robert Corner (36) and Samual Jakobson (26) the star performers. GHK Strathclyde stuck to their task in the field and promising young paceman Zain Ullah caught the eye with four overs, 2 for 14. He was ably supported by Zahid Mirza with 4 overs 2 for 19, and Mahboob Ahmad with four overs 2 for 31.
The GHK Strathclyde reply never really got off the ground due to some excellent bowling and fielding from the Partick side. In a well-balanced attack the top wicket takers were Graeme Etheridge and Mahavir Singh Dhillon with identical figures of four overs, 3 for 12. Top score in the GHK Strathclyde run chase came from Faraz Shamim with 20.
