Motherwell CC has announced that the club will not participate in any cricket activity this season. This is due to the continuing situation regarding COVID-19 and the fact that there will be no league or cup cricket delivered this year. This decision was made as the club consider that the safety and wellbeing of their players is their main priority.
WDCU
Following the Cricket Scotland Board meeting on Tuesday the 12th of May and an earlier meeting with the regional cricket associations Cricket Scotland has made another announcement for cricket activity in 2020. The WDCU will provide further updates as appropriate.
At a recent online “meeting”, the WDCU Executive Committee discussed the impact on club finances and ground maintenance and upkeep arising from the current situation. It was agreed that it would be very helpful to get some updated information from all our clubs to assist us in discussions with Cricket Scotland and other agencies.
The request for information was sent to clubs on Thursday the 7th of May and there have been nine replies so far. Could all clubs please respond by Wednesday the 13th of May if at all possible. Your help with this is greatly appreciated.

Delighted to inform you that Greenock CC has been awarded a grant of £10,000 from Grants Scotland. Hopefully more to follow.
Cricket Scotland is working towards greater equality in participation in cricket in Scotland. To that end they have produced equality surveys for adults and under 18s that they would like as many people connected to cricket to complete. I completed it this morning and it took less than five minutes. Your help would be much appreciated.
It has now been confirmed that Ferguslie CC has also been awarded a grant of £10,000 from Grant Scotland for the COVID-19 crisis. Good news and hopefully there will be more to come!
A quick update to inform you that Dumfries Sports Club, consisting of five sports, has received a COVID-19 grant of £25,000 from Grants Scotland. Good news indeed.
Hopefully there will be many more.
I am pleased to inform you all that Prestwick CC has managed to obtain a grant of £10,000 from this source. This is the first success I have heard of and would encourage all clubs to make an application. Information on how to apply has been sent to all clubs.
If you do and are successful please let me know and I will share the news.
