Please see be the second update sent to clubs and contacts on Friday. Unfortunately this has bounced back to me from all contacts so I will resend it. Meanwhile it is available to all.
Good afternoon,
I have now received all the competition entries and ground availability from clubs. The midweek League and Cup fixtures are now complete and being checked prior to publication. This should happen very soon.
Following their successful appeal against their non promotion GHK and GHK Strathclyde will now play in Division 1 and 2 next season. Helensburgh will also play in Division 2 in 2022 as they will not be fielding a second X1.
As a result of this the compilation of the Saturday League fixtures has just commenced and will be completed in the next weeks or so.
Please inform me immediately should any issues arise regarding your ground availability. It is easier to sort these issues prior to the fixture list being completed.
Thanks to those of you who have sent me updated club contact details for 2022 and the most up to date list I have is on the WDCU website in the documents section. Please send all changes to me as promptly as you can. I also update the Saturday League and Sunday Friendly contact details on the website as I get them.
I note that Cricket Scotland has recently sent out details of the Scottish and Challenge Cups and all the Youth Competitions. Can I encourage as many of you as possible to enter teams in these competitions please.
As you will be aware following recent high-profile allegations, an independent review is currently being carried out into racism and racial inequalities within Scottish cricket. Scotland’s national agency for sport, sportscotland, has appointed global equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) expert, Plan4Sport, to lead this wholly independent process, with a full report and associated recommendations to be published in July 2022.
More information will follow shortly on this but in the meantime to get in touch with the team please contact cricketreview@sportscotland.org.uk in the first instance.
Finally the CMC are in the process of planning as normal a season as is possible for 2022 but remain very aware of the fluctuating situation regarding Covid 19 and will follow the guidance set out by the Scottish Government, sportscotland and Cricket Scotland. I would greatly appreciate the fullest support and cooperation from clubs to assist CMC with this process.
Following a successful appeal by GHK against their non promotion the teams promoted and relegated following season 2021 are as follows:
Premier League : Promoted to – Ayr and Kelburne. Relegated from – Greenock and Poloc
First Division: Promoted to – Hillhead and GHK Relegated from – East Renfrewshire. (Please note that Helensburgh will also play in Division 2 in 2022 as they are not running a second team.
Second Division: Promoted to – Hamilton Crescent and GHK Strathclyde. Relegated from – Williamfield and Torrance House.
Premier League Reserve: Promoted to – Bothwell and Cambusdoon. Relegated from – Nunholm and Langloan.
Please see below the first communication to clubs for season 2022.
Happy New Year to you. A few things to start us off for 2022.
I only received replies from 11 out of 34 Clubs intimating their competition options and ground availability for season 2022 by the 31st December deadline.
I am aware there are still a small number of clubs that can’t send that information to me yet but for many there is no reason. Could I ask you to submit your playing intentions and ground availability to me as soon as possible please and no later than 14th January. Once I get these I can then get on with drawing up all the fixtures.

I note that a number of clubs are beginning the process of engaging overseas paid players, coaches and amateurs. Given that there have been few of these appointments since 2019 I have written to Cricket Scotland to enquire if the ‘Home Office / ECB Rules’ regarding these appointments remain unchanged. I will revert to you when I have had a response. In the meantime please make your self familiar with the most recent regulations that are attached.
I will update the WDCU forms for each of these categories shortly and make them available to clubs either directly or on our website.

Good morning, Please note that the WDCU administration system is suffering technical issues at the moment. Emails being sent to WDCU are being received, but, at present, no emails are able to be sent from the WDCU Administrator. We are working to resolve this as quickly as we can.
With the AGM coming up on Wednesday there are still a lot of clubs that haven’t nominated their representatives and they should do so as a matter of urgency. Names and email addresses are required to allow the Zoom meeting details to be sent.
The WDCU takes the concerns and observations by all our member clubs, and their members, seriously and will not tolerate discrimination in any form. To this end we fully support the Cricket Scotland Equality Action Plan, and are also joint signatories to the recent statement put out by Cricket Scotland outlining the action being taken to address the concerns raised recently.
At a meeting last week, the WDCU Executive affirmed full support for the Cricket Scotland Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan. Details of the plan are in the attached link.
