Cricket Scotland has this morning published an update relating to the review on its website and shared this on social media. They have asked organisations and associated clubs/committee members/officials etc to share this. The more profile that we collectively give to this issue the more chance we have of effecting real and meaningful change within cricket. I know that is something we are all passionate about. Thanks for your continued support.
Web update: https://www.cricketscotland.com/update-on-the-independent-review-into-cricket/
The Saturday league fixtures have been sent to all club contacts this morning and can be found in the document centre. The following explanation note accompanied the mail:
- There are three Premier Reserve league fixtures scheduled on a Sunday as the home team ground is hosting Scottish International training or games on the Saturday. In some cases the scheduled home team has been switched to play away.
- Added to that and the fact that some grounds are not available for the full season some teams may have extended runs of home or away games. This is unavoidable.
- There are 7 teams in Division 3. This division was agreed taking the top teams from Division 3 from 2021, the introduction of a new team with a perceived strength (Milngavie CC) and the request of another club to drop two divisions. There are 14 games scheduled for this league. Those highlighted in yellow are the additional games. Teams in this league are encouraged to arrange additional friendly fixtures with other free teams from Division 3 or 4
- There are 8 teams in Division 4. This division was agreed taking the bottom teams from Division 3 2021, the introduction of a new team (Renfrew 3 playing all games away from home) and the request of another club to drop two divisions. There is one league fixture in this league scheduled for a Sunday. Teams in this league are encouraged to arrange additional friendly fixtures with other free teams from Division 3 or 4.
- The Saturday League Administration Rules and all league Playing Conditions are being updated and will be sent out shortly.
Please see below the most recent club update sent out to club contacts earlier today.

“I found your email on the Scottish Cricket website as I was looking for the contact details of some of the clubs email addresses that play in your league. I’m writing to you as I am currently a fourth year at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, and I’m undertaking my dissertation in management, and specifically focusing on cricket coaches and the importance of human and technical skills. As part of this I am conducting my own research and I would love to include some local leagues and gain an insight as to how the attitudes in Scotland may differ to those elsewhere. I have made a questionnaire that will take under two minutes to complete that consists of nine questions which will help me out massively with my final year project. The link to complete the questionnaire is here: https://s.surveyplanet.com/x8lfmliu. I understand you must be very busy so do not worry if you are unable to complete the survey, I completely understand. If you are able to, and know anyone else who may be able to take part in the survey, that would also be massively appreciated. Unfortunately there is not much I can offer in terms of incentives, but the Western District Cricket Union would definitely feature on the acknowledgements page of my dissertation if I am able to get a few responses.
Thanks for taking the time to read this email, and all the best for the upcoming season.
Regards,
Joe Williams”

Good morning,
Please see be the second update sent to clubs and contacts on Friday. Unfortunately this has bounced back to me from all contacts so I will resend it. Meanwhile it is available to all.
Good afternoon,
I have now received all the competition entries and ground availability from clubs. The midweek League and Cup fixtures are now complete and being checked prior to publication. This should happen very soon.
Following their successful appeal against their non promotion GHK and GHK Strathclyde will now play in Division 1 and 2 next season. Helensburgh will also play in Division 2 in 2022 as they will not be fielding a second X1.
As a result of this the compilation of the Saturday League fixtures has just commenced and will be completed in the next weeks or so.
Please inform me immediately should any issues arise regarding your ground availability. It is easier to sort these issues prior to the fixture list being completed.
Thanks to those of you who have sent me updated club contact details for 2022 and the most up to date list I have is on the WDCU website in the documents section. Please send all changes to me as promptly as you can. I also update the Saturday League and Sunday Friendly contact details on the website as I get them.
I note that Cricket Scotland has recently sent out details of the Scottish and Challenge Cups and all the Youth Competitions. Can I encourage as many of you as possible to enter teams in these competitions please.
As you will be aware following recent high-profile allegations, an independent review is currently being carried out into racism and racial inequalities within Scottish cricket. Scotland’s national agency for sport, sportscotland, has appointed global equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) expert, Plan4Sport, to lead this wholly independent process, with a full report and associated recommendations to be published in July 2022.
More information will follow shortly on this but in the meantime to get in touch with the team please contact cricketreview@sportscotland.org.uk in the first instance.
Finally the CMC are in the process of planning as normal a season as is possible for 2022 but remain very aware of the fluctuating situation regarding Covid 19 and will follow the guidance set out by the Scottish Government, sportscotland and Cricket Scotland. I would greatly appreciate the fullest support and cooperation from clubs to assist CMC with this process.
