WDCU, Club communication, 27 January 2021

Please see the most recent communication from WDCU sent to clubs earlier this week.

Following recent communications regarding planning for this season I would like to update you on a few things.  I am still waiting on a small number of responses to my request for clubs initial estimates for team participation for this season. A number of the outstanding clubs have informed me that it will be with me shortly which is good. To those yet to contact me at all (six clubs) could you please provide a reply even if it is that you are really unsure at this time.

It would also be helpful if clubs could inform me if there are likely to be any dates where your ground will be unavailable during the season and including the first two weeks in September as this may be a period where games are scheduled. If you could let me know on both counts by Friday the 6th February that would be great.

Also if you would like a sponsors name attached to your teams for this year please let me know if you haven’t already done so. These can be added in up until the middle of March.

Could I also inform you that both the WDCU Executive and CMC are meeting regularly to undertake the complex planning for the forthcoming season. WDCU is also represented at planning meetings being hosted by Cricket Scotland dealing with similar issues from a national perspective. As all these discussions are at an early stage and there are significant uncertainties regarding Covid 19 restrictions no fixtures lists will be published in the immediate future.

I will provide clubs with an update in mid February following the next round of meetings and at the end of each month. Should any significant information become available I will share that as I get it.

CSMOA, newsletter

Neil Cauldwell the secretary of the newly formed Cricket Scotland Match Officials Association (“CSMOA”) has produced their first newsletter.  Please see it attached below.

CSMOA newsletter, 1 December 2020

WDCU AGM 9th December 2020
A short update on the WDCU AGM.
The WDCU AGM was held by Zoom meeting last evening. It was terrific that we had such a good  turn out with 24 member clubs and organisations being represented and the Zoom technology working well.
Chair Mark Colman welcomed all to the meeting and noted that office bearer reports had been circulated in advance.
Duncan Paterson , Vice Chair and Chair of CMC and Keith Young, Treasurer were re elected to the WDCU Executive. Tim Hart takes up the post of WDCU Secretary for the first time.
Jim Hill and Stephen Allison were re elected to the CMC and both committees are at full capacity.
The proposed changes to the constitution were passed and an updated copy of the constitution will be posted on the website shortly.
The major concern of the evening was regarding the effect Covid 19 had on cricket in 2020 and the high level of challenge that it will present for the 2021 season. Duncan Paterson indicated that competition planning was underway and that the CMC would devise a number of scenarios for the 2021 season which will be shared with clubs as early as possible. He acknowledged that a flexible approach by all will be necessary and he urged clubs to keep the WDCU updated on any change to their circumstances.
Neil Cauldwell the new secretary of the recently launched Cricket Scotland Match Officials Association (CSMOA) gave an outline of the new associations purpose which was well received by the attendees.
Should anyone have any questions regarding the AGM please send them to me at admin@wdcu.co.uk
